    Utah Historical Society

    Founded in 1897, the Utah Historical Society partners with diverse communities and storytellers to strengthen the narrative of Utah. Check of the UHS website to learn more about the upcoming (2026) Peoples of Utah Revisited, the Museum of Utah, digital exhibits and collections, scholarly articles in and subscription to the Utah Historical Quarterly, and for additional history resources.

    Colorado LGBT History Project

    The Mildred Berryman Institute proudly supports our fellow LGBTIQ+ historians in the intermountain west. “The Colorado LGBTQ History Project was established to collect and preserve oral histories from those who lived it, archive these histories and make them available to the public, and actively educate the community on LGBTQ history.”

  • The Arizona Queer Archives (AQA)

    The Arizona Queer Archives (AQA)

    “The Arizona Queer Archives (AQA) centers community participation in the building and collecting of LGBTQI histories throughout the state of Arizona and the US-Mexico borderlands. It collects manuscripts and organizational records, ephemera, oral histories and other records that tell the stories of what it means to be LGBTQI in the region.”

    LGBTQ+ History Association

    “The Committee on Lesbian and Gay History was founded in 1979 to promote the study of homosexuality in the past and present by facilitating communication among scholars in a variety of disciplines working on a variety of cultures. The name of the committee was changed to Committee on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender History in January 2009, and to The LGBTQ+ History Association in 2024. Since 1982, the LGBTQ-HA has been officially recognized as an affiliate of the American Historical Association and meets annually in conjunction with the AHA conference, where we sponsor sessions on lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer history. One need not be a member of the AHA to join the LGBTQ-HA.”

    Encircle, “[provides] mental health therapy, support, and resources for every LGBTQ+ youth in Utah. We envision a world where all young people feel accepted, loved, and supported.” Encircle provides services and programming for LGBTQ+ youth, young adults, and parents and families.
